About The University
Purnea University, Purnia, was established on March 18, 2018, after being separated from Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura. Its formation was authorized by an act of the Bihar Assembly and officially notified in the Bihar Gazette (Ashadharan) on August 17, 2016. The university was constituted under the Bihar State University Act (BSU Act 1976), as amended by Section 3(1) of Bihar Act 23, 1976, and further reinforced by the Bihar State Universities Amendment Act 13, 2016.
